LIVE PILOT PROJECT
THE POSTCARD PROJECT
Each week you will receive a postcard containing a reimagining, a short survey, and activity that will ask you questions about your everyday life in Yiewsley.
These surveys and activities should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and will be invaluable to further our understanding of Yiewsley residents experiences of, and aspirations for, our neighbourhood.
INSPIRED BY OUR OWN
POSTCARD HAT, PICTURED JULY 2024
Inspired by those already acting to make the neighbourhood a happier place, one postbox hat at a time.
The Postcard Project uses the everyday act of posting a postcard as a legitimate tool for community engagement and increased neighbour interaction.
Each week a postcard is delivered to your address with a reimagining of disused public space in Yiewsley. Hoping to begin a critical reflection on how we use and occupy public space available to us in Yiewsley, each reimagining will ask you to consider why space could or should not used in such a way.
The postcards ask you to consider what barriers you perceive when accessing public space in Yiewsley, and what you would need in order to feel comfortable in occupying these spaces.
Being able to understand and reflect on how you occupy your neighbourhood is fundamental to building the skills and qualities necessary to empower Yiewsley residents to take an active role in local regeneration.
The Postcard Project is the first step in increasing community capacity and nurturing an empowered community in Yiewsley.
